| Sometimes your name pre-ordains whom you will become. Jasper Morrison should be—and is—a conceptual designer, known for his work in household products and furniture. Born in England, Morrison was raised in both Germany and the United States before his family settled in London, where he attended Kingston College of Art and the Royal College of Art. During school, Morrison was influenced by the work of the Memphis designers out of Milan for their conceptual approach to design. Unconcerned with the novelty of new or unexpected forms, Morrison takes familiar shapes, often banal, and reworks them into an amazing mixture of traditional and contemporary styling. See how his design for his 5-piece Kitchen Utensil Set culminates with different thickness along the laminated handle and has a modern catering feel. Beautiful and highly functional, the set comprises ladle, spoon, fork, spatula and skimmer, in a choice of satin or polished stainless steel. |
